The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) plays a key role in this by regularly issuing recalls across a diverse range of products. We’ve rounded up products in our most-watched categories here at Bob Vila and will be updating the list regularly to keep you informed. June Recalls

Heat Pumps

Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing has recalled heat pumps under Daikin FIT, Amana Brand S-series, and Goodman SD. After a power interruption occurs in the heat pump, it resumes operation with the thermostat in cooling mode. However in these models, the product continues providing heat even while in cooling mode, which poses a risk of excessive heat exposure to users.

Consumers connected to WiFi will find their software remotely updated. If your system is not connected to WiFi, register for the recall on the company’s website for instructions on how to update the unit.

Brookstone Handheld Rechargeable Vacuum

The Brookstone TurboVac Handheld Rechargeable Vacuums are being recalled by Southern Telecom. The vacuums are sold exclusively at Belk. A short circuit in the product during or after charging the battery poses a fire hazard to consumers.

If you own one of these vacuums, immediately stop using it and contact Southern Telecom for a full refund.

Frontgate Chaise Lounge Chairs

Cinmar is recalling Frontgate Chaise Lounge Chairs due to finger crushing and amputation hazards. The adjustable backrest can unexpectedly descend with force when adjusting while seated, posing a serious risk.

Consumers can contact Cinmar for a free repair kit. Submit a photo of the chaise to Cinmar to receive the kit, which will include a new backrest support bar and assembly instructions. 

JoyJolt™ Declan Glass Coffee Mugs

MM Products is recalling JoyJolt™ Declan Glass Coffee Mugs due to burn and laceration hazards. The glass mugs can break and crack when filled with hot liquids, posing risks to users. Consumers can contact MM Products for a full refund. 

Vitamix Ascent Series and Venturist Series 8-ounce and 20-ounce Blending Containers and Blade Bases

Vitamix is reannouncing and expanding its recall of Ascent Series and Venturist Series 8-ounce and 20-ounce blending containers and blade bases due to a laceration hazard. The containers can separate from the blade base, exposing the blades and posing a risk to consumers.

Consumers, including those who participated in the 2018 recall, should immediately stop using the recalled blending containers and blade bases. Contact Vitamix to receive a repair kit, which includes a protective plastic shroud to attach over the blade base and additional instructional labels. 

Orly Lavender Scented Candles

Orly is recalling its lavender-scented candles in a round wooden bowl, sold at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, due to fire and burn hazards. The candle’s flames can reach excessive heights, potentially igniting the wooden bowl.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled candles and return them to any Cracker Barrel Old Country Store location for a full refund. 

Rooms To Go Six-Drawer Dressers

Global Home USA is recalling six-drawer dressers due to serious tip-over and entrapment hazards, which can lead to injuries or death in children. These dressers are unstable if not anchored to the wall and don’t comply with the performance requirements of the STURDY Act.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled dressers and contact Rooms To Go for a free replacement. Rooms To Go will arrange for the delivery of the replacement and the removal of the recalled dresser at no charge. 

Bambu Lab A1 3D Printers

Bambu Lab is recalling its A1 3D Printers due to electric shock and fire hazards. The issue occurs when the heatbed cable is bent or damaged, potentially leading to a short circuit and sparking or burning through the insulation layer.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled 3D printers and contact Bambu Lab to either return their A1 3D printers for a full refund or arrange for a free replacement of the heatbed and cable by a local electronics repair facility. Consumers are advised not to attempt any repairs themselves. 

Nap Queen Sleep Victoria Hybrid Mattresses

Adven Group is recalling its Nap Queen Sleep Victoria Hybrid Mattresses because of a violation of mandatory federal flammability regulations, which poses a fire hazard to consumers.

Stop using the recalled mattresses immediately and contact Nap Queen to receive a free fitted cover that will bring the mattress into compliance with federal standards. The company is proactively contacting all known purchasers directly to make sure they receive the necessary cover.

Amana, Daikin, Goodman-Branded Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Packaged Units

Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing is recalling certain Amana, Daikin, and Goodman-branded air conditioning and heat pump units because of a fire hazard. The unit’s serial plate may display incorrect electrical ratings, which could potentially lead to improper wiring that poses a fire risk.

Consumers shouldn’t attempt to open the outside electrical panel of the recalled units. Instead, they should immediately contact the manufacturer for a free repair and inspection. 

Engines Used in Bad Boy Mowers, BigDog, Bobcat, Cub Cadet, Hustler, John Deere and Kubota Brand Lawn and Garden Equipment

Kawasaki Motors USA is recalling engines used in Bad Boy Mowers, BigDog, Bobcat, Cub Cadet, Hustler, John Deere, and Kubota brand lawn and garden equipment due to fire and burn hazards. These engines can overheat and pose significant risks.

Consumers should immediately stop using any lawn and garden equipment with the recalled engines. To arrange for a free repair, contact Kawasaki, John Deere, Cub Cadet, Hustler, BigDog, or Kubota, or visit an authorized dealer. 

Sanctuary Quick Access and Sports Afield Biometric Gun Safes

SA Consumer Products is recalling Sanctuary Quick Access and Sports Afield Biometric Gun Safes due to a serious injury hazard and risk of death. The biometric lock on these safes can be opened by unauthorized users, which is a major safety risk.

Consumers should immediately stop using the biometric feature, remove the batteries, and only use the key for storing firearms. Contact SA Consumer Products to receive a free repair kit to address the issue.

Good Earth Lighting Rechargeable Integrated Lights

Good Earth Lighting is recalling over 1.2 million rechargeable integrated lights due to fire and burn hazards. The battery in the recalled lights can overheat, causing the plastic housing to ignite. Tragically, one death has been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using these lights and contact Good Earth Lighting for a free replacement light of equal or greater value, including free shipping.

May Recalls

Black & Decker Craftsman Cordless Tillers/Cultivators

Craftsman has issued a recall for its V20 cordless tillers/cultivators due to a risk of laceration. The assembly instructions included with the product instruct consumers incorrectly to attach the bottom portion of the tiller/cultivator upside down. Assembling it this way causes the tines to rotate toward the user with a potential for injury.

Owners of this product should immediately stop using it and contact Craftsman for new assembly instructions. You can also find assembly instructions on the Craftsman website.

CHZHVAN Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors

CHZHVAN combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors sold exclusively on Amazon are being recalled due to a critical failure. These detectors can fail to activate, posing a significant risk that consumers will not be alerted in the event of a fire. The recalling firm has not responded to the CPSC or consumers and has not cooperated in implementing the recall. Consumers are strongly urged to immediately dispose of the product to ensure home safety.

Electrolux Group Frigidaire and Kenmore Electric Ranges

Electrolux Group has reannounced the recall of certain Frigidaire and Kenmore electric ranges due to fire and burn hazards. Affected models may have surface heating elements that can turn on spontaneously, fail to turn off, or heat to incorrect temperatures. 

Consumers should immediately stop using the impacted ranges and contact Electrolux or register online to determine if their range can be repaired. Electrolux will schedule a free inspection and repair for repairable units. If the range is not repairable, consumers will receive a $50 electronic gift card and reimbursement of up to $60 for the haul-away fee. Electrolux advises not to leave anything on the range when not in use to prevent burn injuries.

Article Spin Swivel Chairs

Article has recalled its spin swivel chairs due to a fall hazard. The base of the chair can break, posing a risk of falling for users. Consumers should immediately stop using the swivel chairs and contact Article for a free replacement base and installation instructions. Article is reaching out to all known purchasers directly to ensure they receive the necessary replacement parts and instructions.

ZLINE Built-In Electric Wall Ovens

ZLINE is recalling some models of its built-in electric wall ovens due to concerns about potential impact injuries. There have been instances where the oven door hinge has become dislodged, releasing the spring, which could break through the door trim and pose a risk of injury. Consumers are urged to cease using these ovens right away and get in touch with ZLINE for a free replacement door, along with detailed instructions on how to proceed with the replacement process.

DR Power Equipment Leaf Blowers and Leaf Vacuums

DR Power Equipment is issuing a recall for some of its leaf blowers and leaf vacuums because of a concern about laceration risks. They have found that certain internal components may become loose and be expelled, which could pose a danger to both users and bystanders. Consumers should stop using the affected units and reach out to DR Power for a complimentary repair service, which will be carried out by an authorized dealer.

American Honda Motor Lawn Mowers and Pressure Washer Engines

American Honda Motor Co. has broadened a previous recall by adding about 200 lawn mower replacement engines due to a safety risk. The issue stems from manufactured camshafts that could cause the starter rope to unexpectedly retract during startup, creating a hazard. This expansion follows a recall announced in September 2023 involving approximately 391,800 lawn mowers and pressure washer engines.

Consumers should stop using the affected lawn mowers and pressure washers immediately and contact an authorized Honda Power Equipment dealer for a free inspection and repair service.

Rooms To Go Children’s Dressers

LFN Limited, in partnership with Rooms To Go, is issuing a recall for children’s dressers sold at Rooms To Go due to the risk of tipping over. If these dressers aren’t securely anchored to the wall, they can pose dangers of harm or even death to children, which goes against the safety standards set by the STURDY Act.

Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled dressers, keep children away from them, and contact Rooms To Go for a free replacement dresser. Rooms To Go will deliver the replacement dresser for free and remove the old one.

April Recalls

3M Peltor X4 Series Earmuffs

3M has recalled the Peltor X4 Series of noise-reducing earmuffs that are intended to offer protection while consumers are using loud power tools or equipment. The earmuffs can develop cracks in the green part of the plastic cups, putting consumers at risk for overexposure to loud sound.
