The 8 Best Washer and Dryer Sets of 2024, Tested and Reviewed
A washer and dryer are two of the most important appliances in your home. Finding the right ones, though, can be a tricky process, since there are so many options on the market in a wide variety of sizes and designs. One way to simplify the process? By opting for a washer and dryer set and getting both machines assembled in your home at once.
Washer and dryer sets “alleviate the hunt to find a counterpart that matches a singular washer or dryer you have chosen, in both function and style,” says Brian Shaunfield, Lowe’s Store Manager. “Washer and dryer sets are also engineered to work together. For example, if a washer has a higher spin speed, it means less drying time. The matching dryer has special cycles and sensors to keep clothes from over drying, helping them last longer.”
To help you wade through the huge variety of washer and dryer sets out there, we tested 27 models in real-world conditions, evaluating them on efficiency, value, design, and more. In addition to Shaunfield, we spoke to Jessica Petrino, educator and appliance expert at AJ Madison, and John Carey, co-founder and vice president of appliance retailer Designer Appliances, for expert insight.

Look no further than this pairing from LG, two sleek machines that feature special technology that reduces wrinkles and odors and gets deep into fabric. The sizable (and stackable!) appliances are Wi-Fi enabled, too, so you can easily control them from an app and check in on your laundry’s progress. They’re sold separately, but you can find the dryer at Home Depot, Best Buy, or AJ Madison.
This washer and dryer set is known for its efficiency, and during our tests, we found the machines easy to operate and were impressed that they took half the time of other washers and dryers to clean (they’re Energy Star certified and have a CEE 2 rating). We also found this set to be relatively quiet while in use, very simple to set up and use, and intuitive to operate either via the machines or the app. Additionally, the dryer has an easy-to-clean lint trap, and both machines make a pleasant sound when the cycles are done. You can even choose from black or white for the colors to make sure the appliances look good in your home, and the price of both appliances is on par with the many features they offer.
As for downsides, you may have to bend over a bit uncomfortably to load the washer and dryer (but you can purchase stands to help with that issue), and the dryer can over dry clothes a bit, possibly leading to some shrinking. Overall though, the ease of use, high performance, and customization options make this pairing worth it.
