The display shows minimal information and beeps loudly when switching between settings.
The Dreo Solaris Slim space heater stood out in our testing for its intuitive design and effective heating performance, earning the title of Best Overall. It includes five modes—H1, H2, H3, fan-only, and eco—and its programmable thermostat allows you to adjust between 45°F and 95°F in 1-degree increments. The device’s eco mode automatically turns the fan off once the ambient temperature is reached.
Equipped with a touchscreen for easy up-close control, the heater also comes with a remote that works from up to 26 feet away, which we found effective from all ranges. With an oscillation feature covering a 90-degree spread, the unit adequately heated our entire space, and its tall design produced a column of hot air that warmed our full seated body from a few feet away.
We found this space heater straightforward to use. It’s worth noting that while in operation, the only information displayed on the heater is that the fan is running—as you adjust each setting, the light display briefly indicates your new setting, though that alert disappears quickly. It also beeps when switching between settings, which may be annoying for some.
In terms of safety, the heater boasts many advanced features. It offers overheat protection as well as a smart tip-over protection that activates when tipped more than 45 degrees. The 12-hour timer and 24-hour automatic shut-off functions ensure the heater won’t stay on if you forget to turn it off. Plus, its lightweight design features a back cut-out that acts as a handle, making it easy to carry around the house. After three months of use, the heater is still operating as it did on day one. Overall, this pick checks all the boxes of a good space heater: It’s small, easy to operate, safe to use, and produces an impressive output.
