I've Had This Area Rug for 5 Years, and It Still Looks Brand New—Even With 2 Cats

If there’s one thing I’ve learned since adopting my two cats, it’s that everything is a scratching post. My brand new rattan entryway table? Perfect for afternoon scratches. My beloved (and very expensive) couch? An excellent place to scratch the stress of the day away. Despite having several dedicated cat scratchers around my house, nothing is free from the damage of their very cute, but very destructive paws: except the NuLoom carpet in my living room.

My adorable little foster fails joined my household after I’d purchased this rug back in 2019. In my five years of owning this carpet, I’ve spilled countless amounts of food, drinks, and sauces, and my cats have thrown up on it more times than I can count. Every time I encounter a spill, I’m worried it’ll stain the carpet, but each time I’m proven wrong. There’s not a single mark of any accident and it looks as good as it did the day we got it (aside from a little more cat hair). 

Aside from its seemingly magical abilities, this rug looks sleek and modern in our living room. Plus, we didn’t have to buy any rug pad to keep it in place. It’s a little thicker than your typical area rug, but it provides the right amount of comfort and won’t tilt your furniture or seem out of place. If I had to go back in time, I’d tell my younger self to buy the rug and spring for the bigger size so it can cover even more of our floor.
