These Are The 4 Best Robot Vacuum And Mop Combos, Based On Testing

The best robot vacuum and mop combos are arguably the most time-saving appliances you can get for your home. These high-end gadgets autonomously clean the floors in your house, picking up debris and scrubbing away stains with minimal maintenance on your part. After testing ten of the most popular and best-selling models, my top recommendation is the new Eufy S1 Pro, which has a fully automated design and mopping power that blows the competition out of the water.

The following are all the top-performing models from my testing:

The best robot vacuums have gotten more affordable over the years—some of our top-rated picks cost less than $200—but because they use new cleaning technology, the best robot vacuum and mop combos tend to be pricey, often retailing for over $1,000. They can pick up all sorts of debris, from spilled food to clumps of pet hair, while simultaneously washing your floors, making them a useful tool for pet owners, busy households or people with mobility limitations. However, it’s important to keep in mind that they aren’t necessarily a replacement for manual cleaning. “These devices are best suited for daily maintenance, cleaning hard floors such as tile, hardwood and laminate, handling light to moderate dirt and picking up pet hair,” explains Diana Ciechorska, general manager at Park Slope Cleaning. While your robot can take care of everyday vacuuming and mopping, you may still need to take a full-size vacuum to thick rugs, clean around the corners of your home and pick up large messes by hand.

In testing, I also discovered that not all models excel at mopping. While the best robot vacuums and mop combos were able to scrub away dried-on stains, other robots simply ended up dragging dirt and stains around the floor. With these factors in mind, the following are the models I think are worth the investment.

After testing ten of the most popular robot vacuum and mop combos, one thing became quite clear: Many of these products were surprisingly bad at mopping, struggling to remove even the smallest stains in my tests—but not the Eufy S1 Pro. This model stood out from the competition thanks to its superior cleaning abilities and earned our top spot in testing thanks to its solid all-around performance.

The S1 Pro, which was released in 2024, has a unique mopping mechanism that proved to be highly effective on all types of messes in testing. The robot has an 11.4-inch cylindrical mopping bar—similar to what you’d find on a manual vac-mop—that exerts strong downward pressure as it drives, scrubbing the floor much more effectively than other models. It also uses fresh water to clean the bar and sucks up waste water as it spins, so it’s not just spreading dirt around your floors. This innovative design proved to be a winner: In testing, the S1 Pro easily removed dirt stains from hardwood floors in a single pass and was one of the only mops able to fully clean a sticky glob of dried-on chocolate syrup, making it our top overall recommendation for anyone who wants sparkling-clean floors.

In addition to its top-tier mopping abilities, this model stood out for its fully automated design and overall ease of use. The base (which is admittedly sizable, at over 26 inches tall—roughly the size of a 13-gallon trash can) has a large clean-water tank, a dirty-water tank and a 2.5-liter dustbin to hold dry debris, and it uses a cleaning solution while mopping for a more thorough clean. The robot automatically fills its onboard tank with water and detergent before heading off to mop, and when it finishes cleaning, it empties its dirty-water reservoir, cleans its mop bar and even dries the bar with hot air to prevent mold and odors.

Besides selecting the settings within the Eufy app, which was better designed and easier to navigate than most other brands’ apps, I didn’t have to lift a finger during the cleaning process. The robot automatically navigated around obstacles like power cords, furniture legs and stray dog toys, and even after I’d run the robot several times, the water tank was still half full, so I think it’s safe to say that its maintenance needs are minimal. That’s not to say it’s completely maintenance-free, though: You will periodically need to refill the clean-water tank, replace the cleaning solution and empty the dirty-water tank on the base. The robot also comes with a spare mopping bar that you can swap in if the first one needs a deep clean.

If you have carpeting in your home or want to vacuum without mopping (an option you can select in the app), the S1 Pro also proved highly capable at vacuuming. It picked up the vast majority of the debris I set out for it in my tests, including coffee grounds, cat litter and clumps of pet hair. It automatically detected carpeting and retracted the mop bar to prevent rugs from getting wet. My only complaint is that it didn’t do the best job of cleaning along the edges of the room, picking up only half of the debris I scattered in the corner—a common issue with several of the models I tested. Still, on cleaning performance, ease of use and features, the S1 Pro blew away the competition, and I think it’s your best option for keeping your home spic-and-span with minimal effort.

A More Affordable Pick That Requires Manual Maintenance

Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1

Our score: 8 | Base dimensions: 15 x 21.4x 5.7 inches | Dustbin capacity: 0.2 quarts | Battery life: 120 minutes | Mop lifting: N/A

Best for:

  • Thorough cleaning at a lower priceA less expensive pick
  • If you value an easy-to-use app
  • Smaller spaces

We tested three models that cost less than $1,000, and among them, the Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 performed the best, picking up more debris and offering better scrubbing power than the others. However, it requires more manual intervention than pricier models like the Eufy S1 Pro. The Shark can automatically vacuum and empty dry debris into its base, but for wet cleaning, you have to manually set up its mopping module by attaching a pad, measuring water and cleaning solution, and starting the mopping session via the robot or app. You also have to clean the reusable mopping pads after each run—all of the other winners do this automatically in their base.

The Shark did a good job cleaning, especially considering its lower price. It outperformed models like the iRobot Roomba Combo j7+ on both vacuuming and mopping. While vacuuming, the Shark sucked up the majority of the debris, though it did struggle a bit with smaller particles like coffee grounds and with cleaning along walls. Its non-tangle brush roll didn’t get wrapped up in long pet hair, and it efficiently avoided the obstacles I set up in its path. It’s also worth noting that the Shark has the most compact base of all the models we tested, making it well suited for smaller homes.

While mopping, the robot moves its flat pad back and forth 100 times per minute, creating a powerful scrubbing action, and it was able to remove the majority of the dirt stains. It didn’t fare as well against the chocolate spill on its regular cleaning mode, but when I ran the unit again with “Matrix Mopping,” a spot-cleaning setting that spins the robot in circles to go over the area multiple times, it was able to remove about 70% of the tough, sticky mess.

Because this model has separate attachments for vacuuming and mopping, the app offers detailed instructions on the process for each, taking you step by step through setup and operation. This makes it a bit more accessible for people who aren’t as tech-savvy. One important thing to note, though: Before mopping, be sure to let the robot map your home, and manually label carpets in the Shark app, as the robot won’t automatically detect them and will otherwise mop over them. It can be tricky to get the location just right, but you can have the robot drive around the perimeter you set to make sure it’s in the proper place. Once I’d labeled my area rugs in the app, the robot successfully avoided them while mopping.

Best Robot Vacuum And Mop Combo For Pets

Great Obstacle Avoidance And A Built-In Handheld Vac

Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo

Our score: 8.5 | Base dimensions: 21.8 x 17.4 x 20.6 inches | Dustbin capacity: 3 liters | Battery life: 210 minutes | Mop lifting: 15mm

Best for:

  • Those who want all-in-one cleaning station
  • Effectively avoiding obstacles
  • Vacuuming up pet hair

  • You want the best mopping abilities
  • You have limited space

Robotic cleaners sometimes struggle in households with pets, getting bogged down by hair, running into rogue toys strewn about the floor and even driving through the occasional accident. Of all the robot vacuum and mop combos we tested, the Ecovacs Deebot X2 is best suited for households with pets, due to its superior obstacle avoidance, non-tangle brush roll and built-in handheld vacuum for quick touch-ups.

This robot performed well in all my tests, though it’s slightly better at vacuuming than mopping. On its default cleaning settings, it was able to pick up more than 90% of the debris I scattered around the floor, and through the Ecovacs app you have the option to increase its suction power, number of passes or cleaning speed. It also was able to pick up the majority of the debris along the wall of the room—an area where other vacuums struggled—with its swing-out mopping pad, and even after it had sucked up several large piles of dog hair, there wasn’t any hair visibly tangled around the brush roll. There were a few strands wrapped around the robot’s side cleaning brush, but the brush pops off easily, making it quick to detangle.

For mopping, the Deebot has a fully automated design that fills its own tank and washes and dries its two rotating mop pads after each cycle. The machine mops using hot water, but I didn’t find it to be any more effective than models that use room-temperature water. On regular settings, it removed most of the dirt stain but didn’t make any noticeable difference on the chocolate syrup. When I ran it again with increased mop settings, which took around 15 minutes of additional cleaning time, it removed the rest of the dirt stain and about half of the chocolate.

The Deebot X2’s obstacle avoidance makes it well suited for homes with pets. It’s able to navigate around all types of items on the floor, from power cords to shoes and even pets themselves, but it cleans in a tight area around them. Through the app, you can also adjust its settings if you want it to give obstacles a wider berth. However, unlike other robots, it doesn’t mark obstacles on the map or give you a report of items it encountered on each cleaning run. This doesn’t affect its functionality, though.

The Deebot X2 Combo has one of the largest bases of all the models we tested, mostly because it has a handheld vacuum that docks on the side. The lightweight vacuum comes with three attachments, including a crevice tool, dusting brush and motorized upholstery tool, all of which fit nicely in a drawer at the bottom of the base. I found the vacuum convenient for quick cleaning jobs, like removing pet hair from the sofa. The icing on the cake is that once docked, the vacuum is automatically emptied into the base’s dustbin, making it super low-maintenance.
